While giving her opening monologue, the singer made a bold political statement

Ariana Grande made a very memorable appearance on Saturday Night Live when she guest starred in the comedy sketch show.

The ex-Nickelodeon actress opened the NBC show in a stunning strapless hot pink ballgown that had a plunging neckline. While giving her opening monologue the singer spoke about playing Glinda the Good in Wicked The Movie. She then made the bold political statement.

“The last time I hosted was in 2016 and we were right on the verge of electing our first female president [referring to Hillary Clinton, who in fact lost to Donald Trump] so I guess, second time’s a charm, the award-winning singer said on SNL.

Arianas endorsement caused the live studio audience to applaud her support for Vice President Kamala Harris when she crossed her fingers while raving her arms in the air. Harris was selected as the Democratic nominee after Joe Biden pulled out of the race.

After her endorsement, Ariana joked with the audience would “keep things low key” and “not about her” as SNL host before she began singing. The Victorious alum then proceeded to get the crowd cracking up with her impressions of Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani.

Arianas SNL co-star Bowen Yang then showed up in Glindas Wicked dress prior to her telling him they needed to “cut the sketch.” He and Ariana later co-starred together in a skit on the episode that aired on October 12.

The skit had Ariana playing the proud mom Diane, who was meeting her sons new boyfriend, who Bowen portrayed for the first time. During the scene, the family engaged in a game of charades before tensions arose and a physical altercation ensued.

When everything calmed down a bit, Ariana’s character said: “I need my son to have a man like you who will protect him because my son is so weak.

Bowen then added: “Im sorry things got so heated.” Ariana’s character then had the audience going wild after she said: “It’s OK,” before pulling Bowen in for a kiss.

One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to say: “Who else is doing it like her?! Incredible talent.” A second shared: “Ariana is so talented! Great job tonight.”

A third commented: “Ariana’s monologue was hilarious! She always knows how to mix humour with her charm. Love her energy!” Another mused: “Ariana Grande just endorsed Kamala Harris.”
