Surpassing Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson is now the highest paid actress in the world after the success of the movie “Beauty and the Beast”
According to statistics from The Evening Standard, Emma Watson was paid millions of dollars for her role in the live-action movie Beauty and the Beast released at the end of February. Thanks to the huge salary, Emma has surpassed Jennifer Lawrence, becoming the highest paid actress in the world.
Specifically, Emma was paid 2.5 million USD in advance for the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast. However, the amount that Emma is expected to receive is much more than that, estimated at more than 18.9 million USD, based on the revenue of the movie.
“I think she has the world in the palm of her hand,” Liza Anderson, founder of Anderson Public Relations Group, told The Evening Standard. “She’s one of the biggest stars in the world right now, she can play any role. Not just America, but the whole world loves Emma.”
The actress also earned nearly $63 million for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.
Previously, in 2016, Jennifer Lawrence was the highest-paid actress in the world with an income of $46 million (from June 2015 to June 2016), according to Forbes magazine. This is the second consecutive year Lawrence has topped this list.
