The cute girl from the Harry Potter series has tried her hand at what she said was her most difficult role ever in the horror film Regression.
Regression (Vietnamese title is Regression Memory) is the latest work of the Spanish director who won the Oscar Alejandro Amenábar.
The film revolves around a case in which the victim is a young girl. Angela Gray, a 17-year-old schoolgirl, accused her of being sexually abused by her biological father, John Gray. However, when faced with this terrible accusation, John immediately admitted his guilt even though he could not remember any details of the incident.
Suspicious of this mysterious father and son, Bruce invited the famous psychologist, Kenneth Raines, to help them regain their memories of the incident. However, Kenneth and Bruce did not expect that this would not only put them in danger but also reveal a horrifying truth…
Playing Angela Gray, Emma Watson admitted: “This is probably the most difficult role I have ever played. Angela is a girl with a very difficult life. She grew up in a house with two “addicts”: both her father and grandmother were alcoholics, and her mother died when she was young in a car accident. She really has a very complicated life.” Regression officially started filming on April 15, 2014 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, which also happened to be Emma’s 24th birthday. At the time of filming, she was also completing her studies in the UK and busy with her role as an ambassador for the UN’s global women’s rights campaign “HeForShe”. However, Emma Watson said that she tried her best to complete the role.
Emma Watson’s performance received much praise from critics when Regression was selected to open the San Sebastian Film Festival. Many newspapers said that this could be said to be a big step forward in Emma’s acting career, making her recognized as a talented actress with diverse and deep acting ability.
