Bo Nix for Offensive Rookie of the Year? How Broncos QB's stats stack up against Jayden Daniels after win vs. Falcons image

The Offensive Rookie of the Year was supposed to be over when Jayden Daniels found Noah Brown for a game-winning Hail Mary against Caleb Williams and the Bears in Week 8, if it wasn’t already.

No one told Bo Nix.

A week after a solid showing against the Chiefs came up painfully short, the Broncos rookie sliced up the Falcons’ defense to get back in the win column and assert himself as a legitimate Rookie of the Year contender with six games still remaining for Denver.

Here’s a look at Nix’s stats in Week 11 against the Falcons and how his season totals compare to Daniels.

Bo Nix vs. Jayden Daniels stats

Daniels entered Week 11 as the heavy favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and he will almost certainly exit favored by a healthy margin. Still, the numbers are close enough that the gap looks like it can still be closed:

Bo Nix Stat Jayden Daniels
11 Starts 11
6-5 Record 7-4
65.5% Comp. 68.7%
2,275 Yards 2,338
14 TD 10
6 INT 3
88.1 Passer rating 99.6
295 Rush yards 482
4 Rush TD 4
4.7 Yards/carry 5.2

Daniels has a slight-to-moderate advantage in most categories. He has a better record as the Commanders’ starter and leads Nix in completion percentage, yards, and passer rating. While Nix has flashed impressive mobility, it’s no surprise Daniels has out-run him by close to 200 yards, though both quarterbacks have four rushing touchdowns.

Nix actually has four more total touchdowns than Daniels after Sunday’s performance, though Daniels has half as many interceptions.

With six games remaining for each team, there seems to be plenty of time for Nix to close the game — and he certainly has the momentum. Four of Nix’s six interceptions came in his first two NFL starts. Those games count, but a 14:2 ratio over his past nine starts is a great sign of what’s to come for the rookie. The Broncos are also in playoff position against all odds, so both QBs will be playing meaningful games down the stretch.

The Offensive Rookie of the Year award isn’t relegated to quarterbacks, but Brian Thomas Jr., Malik Nabers, and Brock Bowers are all doing their best to stay afloat in often brutal passing offenses. It’s tough to see one of them catching fire enough to surpass both Daniels and Nix, even if the circumstances are what’s holding them back.

Bo Nix stats vs. Falcons

  • Comp.: 28-33 (84.8%)
  • Pass yards: 307
  • Pass TD: 4
  • INT: 0
  • Sacks: 1

Nix had a stellar day against the Falcons, completing just under 85 percent of passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. Nix avoided an interception for the fourth time in his last five games.

Sunday marked the first 300-yard passing game of Nix’s career, and it was also the first four-touchdown game of his career through the air. Nix has thrown for multiple touchdowns in five of his past seven games, building momentum in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race but also in the standings as the Broncos stay in playoff position.
